John Glenn Band Boosters Fundraising Efforts Matched By Northern Electric

Northern Electric Company has been fixing electric motors for over 65 years serving Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan. They believe in the John Glenn High School Marching Band and have offered to match fundraising donations made available on the new Facebook Fundraiser.

The effort being lead by parent, band booster, Tara Dosmann Brown, has so far raised half of their goal. The matching donations from Northern Electric doubles the money for up to $500 from those who are giving the gift that keeps on giving.

The John Glenn High School Marching Band is sponsored by new director, Nathanael Suddeth, who came to the John Glenn School Corporation with 11 years of experience, and a Master’s Degree in Music. He previously taught at the Brown County school system, and at LaVille High School.

He was good friends with predecessor, Dan Fortlander, for years. The popular teacher was with John Glenn Marching Band for 32 years until, he suddenly passed away last year. New Marching Band Director, Suddeth, has curated a lot of new talent and has maintained the progress of veteran performers.

Tara Dosmann Brown added, "It's just some of the band mom's doing it on our own. Jenny Fry had a fundraiser for her birthday, and asked us to start one just to see what we could raise, then I had Northern Electric say they would match donations which is an offer I can't refuse so I really am trying to get the word out. The band received second place last Saturday, and the award for Best General Effect!! We were only one point behind first place, and that band always goes to State!! The kids were very excited!! And they are working so hard."

She also said that "besides the Facebook Fundraiser, supporters can always just send donations to the school made out to John Glenn Band Boosters, they always appreciate donations doesn't matter how they get them!! They put them all to good use. We just got new uniforms and a few new instruments, there is always a need."

The John Glenn High School Marching Band will be performing this Saturday, October 6th at the Plymouth High School - Marching Band Invitational around 7 pm. Be sure to join the Boosters to cheer them on!
