Falloween Festival 2019 John Glenn September 20th -22nd

Thanks to the the sponsorship by "Diamond Donors" Teachers Credit Union, Polygon Corporation, and R & B Car Corporation the spirit of the student body and, staff at the John Glenn School Corporation shines.

Once, a year they raise money for a very important cause. Students pursuing college will have the opportunity to raise money for scholarships. The vast district of school has raised over $350,000 in the last 10 years for students.

John Glenn Square at Walkerton will once again be transformed into the "Falloween Midway," a festival that embraces all the wonders of small town living. Activities will take place at the corner of Georgia St. and John Glenn Dr. A "Homecoming" parade will begin the festivities.

It is a tradition that reminds tourists that fun and entertainment is all about when Autumn begins. The festival inspires the senses of those who seek to help fund the scholarship program through attendance.

The tastes of Walkerton specialty foods, the carnival midway, games, an escape room, magic shows, ceremonies, and the flea market will keep festival goers busy. The friendly atmosphere full of fun activities will be an opportunity to get involved and enjoy the community.

Friday, September 20th at 5pm is when the Grand Parade will start. Sponsored by the Walkerton Chamber of Commerce it will begin at the Urey Middle School Parking Lot and will wind through the Walkerton streets towards the John Glenn Midway. The Homecoming parade will include bands, school groups, public figures, local businesses and more. The Grand Marshall has not yet been announced. Floats will be judged.

The Crossroads Fiddlers and Steve Foresman Band will play until 9:45pm on Friday night during the Skerbeck Carnival rides.


Wrist Bands? Why yes! They are selling wrist bands! If you buy the day of the festival it is $25 Friday/Sunday: $30 Saturday. If you like to save money they are for sale for $20 (one day pass) but, you have to get them BEFORE Friday September 20th! Check out our website on how to order:

JGHS and JGSC organizations, clubs, teams, community groups, civic groups and churches participate in Falloween. Groups will provide food, games, special events, activities and entertainment for everyone. A major portion of what is spent at "Falloween" goes directly to the JGHS scholarship fund, enabling students to offset the ever growing cost of college.

APPLE DUMPLINGS The Women’s Group of the First Presbyterian Church, 512 Georgia Street, Walkerton,will be busy making and selling their pans of homemade apple dumplings for the annual Presbyterian Apple Dumpling Sale. The church’s women will prepare the scrumptious dumplings for the Falloween Fest. The annual Apple Dumpling Sale will take place at the First Presbyterian Church and on the Falloween Fest grounds from Friday, Sept. 20th through Sunday, Sept. 22nd.

The Apple Dumpling Tent is located at the west end of the festival grounds; this is west of Skerbeck Entertainment Group Carnival game area. Plan to purchase your apple dumplings. Last year, the dumplings were sold out by the end of Falloween Fest Saturday. Single Apple Dumplings or a pan of dumplings (consists of 4 regular or sugar-free) will be available at the Falloween Fest Apple Dumpling Tent. To place an order ahead of time, call the First Presbyterian Church at 574-586-3301.

APPLE BUTTER What would the Falloween Fest be without the scent of apples and spices being cooked over an open fire? This is what happens on the Falloween Fest midway during the morning and early afternoon of Saturday, September 21st & Sunday, September 22nd.

Come and watch the apples cook in an old family-owned copper kettle over the open flame. The apples will cook from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Then, at about 3:00 p.m., the freshly made APPLE BUTTER will be scooped into jars and then sold to the patrons. JGHS staff members gather to peel bushels of fresh orchard apples on Friday afternoon, September 20th on the Falloween Fest grounds (under the apple butter tent). Make sure that you don’t miss out on this delectable fall festival treat. You may call the high school office to place an advance-sale order at 574-586-3195 x8216. Cost is $5.00 / pint or $3.00 / 1/2pint Pre-Sale orders need to be picked up on Sunday, September 22nd between 2-5 pm.

Apple Butter may be purchased without pre-ordering beginning at about 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 21st. Saturday, September 21st at the West end of Midway area; Apple Butter Tent, 3 p.m. - ? Homemade Apple Butter Sale; the peeling of the apples takes place on Friday and the making of the Apple Butter over an open fire begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday & Sunday morning.


Friday, September 20st Midway area near the north front doors of JGHS, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Sponsored by Boosters. The prices are $7.00 for a half, Pit taters are $3.50.


Saturday, September 21st (Midway area near the north front doors of JGHS, 9 a.m. - ? ) $7 per dozen. These famous and special donuts are prepared and sold by the Masonic Lodge of North Liberty.
