New Walkerton Library To Open In 2018

December 14, 2017

The new "Hiler Media Center" being constructed at  Roosevelt and Adams St. will  soon replace the Lincoln Township Public Library located in the shopping  center on Michigan St.

$1.4 million worth of new construction will double the number of computer terminals, add a community room, includes a teen room, and it will  even have a fireplace!

Part of the funding comes from a $250,000 donation from the Hiler Foundation, which also donated the land for the project. The financial package also includes a $400,000 state grant from the Office of Rural and Community Affairs. The remaining $750,000 will come from a bond to be repaid with property taxes.  it’s said that payment will be tax neutral and will be offset by other obligations that are coming off the tax rolls.
