Saturday's First Beer & Wine Fest at Scarborough Park in Walkerton was a benefit to fund-raise money for Walkerton Parks' Youth Programs. New park superintendent Charly Koopman organized the event with plans to keep it annual. According to a Walkerton Park's rough count they said, approximately 200 people attended.
Some of the treats included pulled pork to benefit the travel teams and went well with the wine and beer. There was beer from "South Bend Brew Werks," "Granite City Brewery," and "Evil Czech Brewery." Also, included, were over 8 different wines from "St. Julian Winery," of Paw Paw, Michigan.
Park Superintendent, Charly Koopman said, "we plan to grow each year. The Walkerton Parks Department prides itself on keeping costs of programming low so that every child in the community has the opportunity to participate. Fundraisers. such as this, assist us with programs that are low cost, and provide a high return for the youth of our community."
The event was made possible with the help of Absolute Plumbing, South Bend Brew Werks, Evil Czech, Granite City, St. Julian’s, all of the volunteers, Millers Merry Manor, Serenity Spa, Texas Roadhouse, and the Walkerton Police Department.
