"Sunrise House Of Pancakes" Plates Walkerton With Outstanding Food

May 16, 2020

While, the rest of the state of Indiana phases back into normalcy after the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic all restaurants have reopened under strict guidelines to protect diners and staff alike.  Until, the final phase restaurants will operate at 50% capacity.

At the new "Sunrise House of Pancakes" located at 280 Liberty St. (SR 23 N)) here, in Walkerton you will find owner, Bernardo Velazquez has passionately transformed the old Oakwood space.

"Sunrise" officially, opened back in October of 2019.  Velazquez got to a running start for the holidays providing breakfasts, lunches and next, dinners.  By March, the coronavirus epidemic caught up with us and at the end of that month all restaurants were forced to delivery or "carry-out only" worldwide.  The COVID-19 pandemic has been a state-of-emergency changing the ability of Sunrise to serve customers.

Assistant, Angel Clark said, "Only being able to offer carry-out has limited our business and customer contact.  We closed down for about 3 weeks and cleaned the entire restaurant, threw away everything in our coolers and started fresh.  We love seeing our customers in the restaurant and not being able to serve them inside hurt."

"Sunrise House Of Pancakes" has updated their Walkerton location interior with new chairs, upholstery, and pictures for the comfort of diners.

The new Sunrise location at 280 Liberty St. in Walkerton includes a drive-thru that has come in handy since, the COVID-19 World pandemic.  The interior has reopened with 50% capacity last Monday.

The Walkerton community kept them busy with phone orders for their delicious "diner style" menu of American fare.  Breakfasts, lunches, and dinners!  Most of the staff returned for the May 11th reopening last Monday.  You can see that Bernardo and Angel got their creative minds flowing to complete a new interior during the shut-down.

Angel said, "We have added new booths, tables, and décor to make restaurant more inviting."  It shows!  The newly reupholstered booths, fresh paint, and décor compliment the revamp.  She added, "We will follow whatever guidelines are set in front of us and do what is best for our customers.  If that means only seating every other table we will do that."
