The Walkerton Page has learned from several close sources that new developments are being planned along the northside of Roosevelt Rd. beginning at the old Ford dealership next to Urey Square at the old Bolze Marathon car service center, and finally a few blocks down at the abandoned Charles Hiler Foundry.
According to the first source a buyer has purchased 715 - 727 Roosevelt Rd. and intends to purpose the lots for automotive. It is not clear if demolition or new construction will take place, or what improvements are involved?
Our second source has informed us that the abandoned Hiler Complex located at 204 Roosevelt Rd. will be demolished, capped and that the Hiler's are considering donating the property for park land. The old Hiler property is listed on the 2018 Indiana Brownfield's site for toxic contaminated properties. Certainly, EPA Superfund money may be used for cleanup? The lot contains copper contamination.
